Christopher Wheeldon is a rare talent: He’s known as a master of story ballet worldwide. His pieces are being staged by more and more companies eager to inject a breath of fresh air alongside treasured but overused classics. The Vienna State Opera ballet company recently presented his 2014 take on Shakespeare’s later work The Winter’s Tale, which apparently has never been choreographed before Wheeldon’s version.

Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic, bestowed the highest state decoration, the Order of the White Lion, on choreographer Jiří Kylián in the Vladislav Hall of Prague Castle on the occasion of the national holiday on 28 October.
